Art is not always about the beauty in the world or the complexity of its possible representations. It can also be contextual, with the artist portraying his or her era. The French artist’s creation entitled Dérive des continents ou Anthropocène, painted directly on one of the walls inside the EDF Foundation building, is a map of the world where continents are distorted, bloated where we pollute the most and shrunken where we pollute the least. This map deviates only slightly from reality and in fact represents the ratio between the CO₂ emissions of each country and its GDP. A stark look at the planet’s main polluters.
