Couturier and Lafargue are a French-Canadian team of committed artists. Since 1991, Louis Couturier and Jacky Georges Lafargue have expressed their social activism through highly contextual participatory works. Through Solar Igloo, Couturier and Lafargue condemn global warming. In partnership with the Institut de l’énergie Trottier at Polytechnique Montreal and Montreal University, the collective launched a project in 2019 for a new kind of public bench for everyone to enjoy, a solar igloo that uses heat to keep you cool. Equipped with solar panels, this shelter uses the heat from the sun to provide a frosty interior. The creation is a plea to protect our planet.
