Île de Sein, pioneering in energy transition
This episode in our 'acoustic journeys' series is the unique tale of an energy challenge; the story of a collective dynamic to shift mindsets and develop sustainable solutions.
Île de Sein is a small island off the coast of Brittany that has become a pioneer for energy transition. Although this island of 195 inhabitants is not connected to the mainland's power grid and still relies in part on fuel oil for its generator, the island aims to procure half of its electricity from renewable sources by 2023 and 100% by 2030. This project is run by the local council with EDF’s Insular Power Systems Division, the Ponant Islands Association, the Brittany regional council and local stakeholders.
