EDF aims to limit its impact on biodiversity by adapting its practices and developing alternative solutions. EDF works with an ARC approach: Avoid, Reduce, Compensate for impact. Within this framework, for land environments, EDF R&D has developed, with its partners, a methodology for evaluating environmental equivalences and a computer tool for decision support: ECOVAL. For the aquatic environment, EDF has equipped many sites with devices such as fishways. To improve their efficiency, EDF R&D continues to research innovative solutions, with new tools such as acoustic cameras or video counters, making it possible to count the number of migrating fish using these fishways.
